About Prairie Coteau Farm
Our farm is 40 rolling acres where wildlife abounds on the windswept Coteau des Prairies in northeast South Dakota (also known as the Buffalo Ridge), nestled amidst prairie and wetlands. This is our seventh year of operation. Over the years our farming endeavors have included community supported agriculture (csa) and market farming, but we have settle comfortably into production of certified organic garlic for garden or table. Visit our store to see the varieties currently available. We are committed to sustainable, organic growing methods that preserve the ecological health of our farm as we strive to be good stewards of the land.
We sell our garlic at the Minnesota Garlic Festival the second Saturday in August, and beginning the last weekend of August, every Saturday 8-noon at the Brookings Farmer’s Market.
We hope to share our family’s experiences in small-scale organic farming in rural South Dakota.
Enjoy and stop back often!

Contacting and visiting the Farm?? I am traveling around the country exploring what America has to offer. One of my targets and subjects of interest are sustainable, organic, self sufficient, and permaculture sites. I am posting video blog entries creating a real time documentary of sorts… Interviewing people who are willing whom I meet along the way… and creating cooking how to’s which I hope to grow into crafting, homesteading, and DIY how to’s of all sorts. I am currently in chicago preparing to drive the 2100 miles to seattle. I am seeking places to visiting along my route and I believe you to be one of them. Would it be at all possible to come by the farm? possibly for an interview or at least to check it out and lend a hand?

Silly question, but I want to be sure. I just planted some garlic. I have a few left over bulbs. Are the Ok to cook with and eat? I hope so because they look good.

Hello,
I’m very interested in apprenticing at your farm for the coming season. What further steps can I take to potentially become involved?
Sincerely,
Ian Adams
